Servant’s Requirements

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND MORALITY AGREEMENT

Living Way Fontana is a non-profit religious organization and is a community of believers who have joined together to meet the spiritual and educational needs of the greater community. Our organization promotes behavior consistent with the Holy Scriptures. Consequently, upon completion of a ministry application you freely and willingly agree to the standards of behavior outlined in this policy.
The standards included in this policy are not exhaustive; rather, they provide a guideline of conduct we believe is in accordance with Biblical standards.

As representatives of Living Way Fontana, it is imperative that our actions are above reproach in all things. Consequently, the following standards of conduct shall apply to all staff (paid and volunteer), of Living Way Fontana. Violations of these standards are regarded as a serious breach of integrity and could result in discipline, up to and including termination.
God’s Word teaches us that certain attributes are desired, including: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-24). These attributes are to be sought, encouraged, and demonstrated in our relationships. (1Corinthians 13:1-17; Ephesians 4:1-32)

Scripture further teaches us that certain behaviors should be avoided, including: theft, lying, dishonesty, gossip, slander, backbiting, profanity, vulgarity, drunkenness, sexual promiscuity or misconduct (including any type of fornication, pornography, adultery, homosexual behavior, and premarital sex), and immodesty of dress. (Exodus 20:13-17; Mark 10:19; Romans 3:19; Ephesians 4:28-32; 1Corinthians 6:9-20) Furthermore, it is our stance according to Biblical standards that marriage is only to be recognized between a person born genetically as a man and a person born genetically a woman; therefore, our ministers may only preside over such unions. (Genesis 2:18-24; Matthew 19:4-5; Ephesians 5:22-23)

Living Way Fontana recognizes the danger to one’s physical and psychological well-being in the use of certain products. Therefore, staff is to refrain from the use of alcoholic beverages, use of tobacco in any form, hallucinogenic drugs and substances, or narcotics not authorized by a physician. (Ephesians 5:17; 1Corinthians 3:16)

REQUIREMENTS OF A SERVANT

MUST BE BORN AGAIN, MOTIVATED BY LOVE, LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT, FOR THE UNITY AND PROFIT OF THE BODY OF CHRIST, AND THE FURTHERANCE OF THE GOSPEL

1 Peter 1:22-23 – “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,”

1 Corinthians 12:4-7 – “There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit [of all]:”

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 – “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all [that] you [do] be done with love.”

Ephesians 4:1-3 – “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Romans 10:15 – “And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

BE FAITHFUL – Proverbs 20:6 “Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful man?” Luke 16:10 – “He who [is] faithful in [what is] least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in [what is] least is unjust also in much.” 1 Corinthians 4:2 – “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”

1. Be attending church services regularly (some ministries require 6 months of consistent prior attendance at Living Way)
2. Be prepared to equip and serve the body
3. Come 45 minutes early to service or scheduled events unless otherwise instructed by overseers

ACCOUNTABILITY TO CHURCH LEADERSHIP
Before making any decisions, never assume – seek wisdom/counsel from pastoral staff. Proverbs 18:1 – “A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.” Proverbs 11:14 – “Where [there is] no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors [there is] safety.” Romans 13:1 – “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.”

DUTIES – FOLLOW THE LORD, AND IN BEING A LEADER – SET THE EXAMPLE! (1 Tim 4:12)

MINISTER PURPOSE – To glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in all things, and support our Senior Pastor in and with the overall administration of our fellowship (Col 3:22-24)

Key Scriptures

Php 4:9 Do those things which you have also learned and received and heard and seen in me. And the God of peace shall be with you.

1Co 11:1 Be imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Eph 3:14-21 For this cause I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
of whom the whole family in Heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth and height, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, forever. Amen.

1Ti 4:12-16 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example of the believers, in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Until I come, attend to reading, to exhortation, to teaching. Do not neglect the gift in you, which was given you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the body of elders. Meditate on these things; be in these things in order that your improvement may appear to all. Hold on to yourself and to the doctrine; continue in them, for doing this you shall both save yourself and those who hear you.
